Commercial Structure Fire: 300 South Maryland Avenue - Burger King (Assist Five Points FC)

Taken from the Five Points Fire Co. Web Site: Around 6 PM (1805 hours) on Friday, July 4th, Five Points, Elsmere, Belvedere, and Cranston Heights were alerted for a commercial structure fire at Burger King on Maryland Avenue. Five Point's Command-17 arrived first on scene with workers evacuated and established Command. First engine, 17-4, laddered the building, investigated the roof top and interior and found fire coming from a grill exhaust vent. A hand line from 17-4 was placed in service to extinguish from roof. Crews from 17-5 and Rescue 16 took a handline into the structure along with a dry chemical extinguisher. The crews used the dry chemical extinguisher to attack the fire from the interior. Crews from Squirt 30 helped with interior suppression and securing utilities. Rescue 14 assumed the RIT. The State's Fire Marshal and Health Department were on scene. Units on scene were: Command 17, Dep. 17, 17-8C, 17-4, 17-5, Rescue 16, Rescue 14, Squirt 30 Units were cleared from the scene in about 60 minutes. Special thanks to crews from Squirt 30 and Rescue 14 who responded to a medical assist in Five Point's local.
