Residential Fire: Arundel (Assist Mill Creek FC)

At approximately 1503 hours on May 20, 2011, units were dispatched to a residential fire. Stations 2 & 21, 14, 19, and 30 were immediately notified. Rescue 14 was assisting Stations 2 & 21 on another incident and quickly cleared to make the response. While en route to the scene, Rescue 14 was advised that 911 was receiving several calls and that 19-8C was near the scene and reporting smoke showing in the vicinity. 19-8C arrived on scene shortly before Rescue 14 and advised Fire Board of “Fire Showing”. Fire Board quickly upgraded the incident to a "Working Alarm" which added Stations 23, 16, and 17.
At 1511 hours, Rescue 14 arrived on scene and started a rapid primary search of the structure. Rescue 14 Driver initially assumed command, then turned it over to 19-8C. The crew from Rescue 14 found negative results on the search and attempted to extinguish and contain of the fire. Upon the arrival of Squrt 30, Rescue 14 exited the structure and obtained a hose line. Rescue 14 entered the residence a second time to continue extinguishing the fire and, along with other interior crews, continued to work until the bulk of the fire was knocked down. Rescue 14 crew exited the structure and began rehab. Crews continued to attempt to bring the fire under control.
Engine 14-3 was made available from the scene by command. Engine 14-3 stood by until a run in district was dispatched. The situation was placed under control at 1618 hours. Salvage and Overhaul was completed, as well as an investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office. Units on scene worked to make themselves available. Rescue 14 returned without incident.
