Station 14 was dispatched to the area of Cleveland Ave and Farwell Rd (Westview) to aid Miquas Fire Co. (Sta 23) on a working house fire. Engine 23-5 arrived on the scene and discovered a single family dwelling heavily involved in fire. Also responding were fire companies from Belvedere(Sta 30), Five Points(Sta 17), Elsmere(Sta 16), Mill Creek(Sta 21) and Wilmington Manor(Sta 26). The crew from 23-5 began to attack the fire with handlines. Rescue 14 responded with a crew of 5 and on arrival assisted the attack with ventilation and fire suppression. As crews were advancing into the structure, they were directed to withdraw and reposition for another attack. Crews again entered the front door and were again removed due to the discovery that a natural gas line was broken and feeding the fire. Crews withdrew and began an exterior attack. The fire was under control in a little over an hour. The home sustained heavy damage. The state fire marshal is investigating the cause. Units on scene were 23-5, 17-5, 16-5, 21-6, L-17, L-16, L-28, R-14 and County Paramedics.
