Multi-Residential Fire: Cranston Hall Apartments

On March 3, 2013 at 11:26 hrs Cranston Heights Fire Company was dispatched for a multi residential fire in the Cranston Hall Apartments Complex with a report of an oven on fire. Engine 142 responded with a crew of 4 Commanded by Captain 2(Jordan Edgerton). Upon arrival of 142 they reported smoke showing from a 3 story multi residential structure. Captain 2 had Cranston Heights Command. Engine 142 immediately established a supply line, and advanced a 2" attack line into the structure to find a fire in a kitchen extending into the living space in a 3rd floor unit. Upon arrival of R23 the crew performed a primary search of the fire floor, finding a family in a separate unit with significant smoke conditions and assisted them out of the structure. 1 child was evaluated for smoke inhalation. The fire was held to the single unit. The situation was placed under control at 11:50 hrs, and 14 units returned to service by 12:38 hrs .The fire is being investigated by the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office. Other assisting units R-14, R-23, S-30, 21-7, L-17, R-16(RIT), FM-20, B17, ALS 29, Medic 7C.
