On 18 April 2014 at 2351 hours, the Cranston Heights Fire Company (Station-14) along with other mutual aid units were dispatched, via the New Castle Co. 911 Center, to assist the Aetna H.H. & L. Company of Newark (Stations 7-8-9-10) with an Engine (14-3) on a "Working" Residential Fire located at 403 Hudson Drive, in the development of Sycamore Gardens. Upon arrival, 14-3 (crew of 4) reported to command and was assigned to assist Squrt-7 with the Rapid Intervention Team (R.I.T.) assignment. The crew of 14-3 deployed multiple ground ladders to the structure, which was a 1 1/2 story split level - wood frame dwelling. Later during the incident, command reassigned the crew of 14-3 to relieve the initial interior fire crew on the second floor. The crew of 14-3 "knocked down" the remaining bulk of the fire on the second floor and in the attic. Once the fire had been "darkened down", the crew of 14-3 in conjunction with the crews from other units, performed salvage and overhaul before clearing the scene.
