On 22 May 22 2014 at 1634 hours, the Cranston Heights Fire Company along with New Castle County Paramedic Unit 7-A and NCC Paramedic Supervisor ALS-21 were dispatched via the NCC 911 Center for a Rescue with Entrapment for report of a Subject Trapped Uner a Fallen Tree, at 927 Centre Road. Rescue-14 (Commanded by Captain Jordan Edgerton) and CHFC Basic Life Support (BLS) Unit A-14 responded in under two minutes. Shortly thereafter, the Elsmere Fire Company responded with Rescue-16 to assist. Upon arrival, Rescue-14 found a Male Subject pinned, by the legs, underneath a large tree. It was reported to the units on scene, the subject was trimming a tree segment, when the tree's weight shifted, pinning him to the ground. The crew from Rescue-14 utilized hand tools, including a six foot New York Hook as a lever, in order to lift and remove the trapped subject. At this time, Captain Edgerton cancelled Rescue-16's response, prior to their arrival. The subject was then immobilized and packaged for transport by the crews on scene. The patient was transported to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center by A-14 and Medic-7A for treatment and further evaluation. At the time of this post, the condition of the subject is not known. The Cranston Heights Fire Company would like to remind you that as the weather becomes warmer and activities outside increase, please keep safety in mind.
