"Cranston Heights firemen, assisted by Elsmere, fought a blaze in Woodlawn Apartments last night that smoldered about 10 hours before it was discovered. Norman A. Morrison, tenant at 1229 Center Road, left the apartment at 12:30 p.m. About 10:15, the heavy drapes that covered the windows burned away and heat began cracking the windows. A neighbor heard the breaking glass and investigated. Fe by fresh air, flames broke out and the entire three-room apartment with bath was involved when firemen arrived."
