Nursing Home Dryer Fire Found By Fire Alarm System
Monday, August 6, 2018
On October 3rd, Station 14 was dispatched to the Brandywine Convalescence Home for a fire alarm. Upon their arrival they found a dryer fire and the assignment was upgraded to a full "box alarm", which added units from surrounding companies to the building fire assignment. The initial crews quickly extinguished the fire and began checking for extension.
The residents of the nursing facility were sheltered in place during the fire requiring no need for evacuation and there were no reported injuries. Units operated for about 1 hour.
This type of incidents shows the importance of Fire Alarm Systems in these types of facilities, businesses, and residences. This alarm cut down the response time to the first crews arriving, reducing the risk of further fire spread or injuries. Be sure that your alarm systems are maintained and in working order. It could help save your home, business, of life.
