Robert S. Croes was the 1st Fire Chief of the CHFCo. (1919-1944) He also was elected and served as the first Secretary of the the CHFCo. on 16 November 1919. Chief Croes is a Charter Member of the CHFCo. and a Life Member (1944) (Posthumously). Chief Croes is also a Charter Member of the "New Castle County (DE) Volunteer Firemen's Association" and was elected and served as the first ever Vice President of the NCCVFA on 9 February 1922. In 1923, Chief Croes was elected and served as the 2nd President of the NCCVFA. In 1929, Chief Croes was elected and served as the 6th President of the "Delaware Volunteer Firemen's Association".
